Hello Mount Seymour Little League Families,
We hope you and your families are staying healthy and positive during these interesting times. As you are aware, the situation regarding youth sport in our community is evolving and the Mount Seymour Little League Board and Executive are working hard to keep up with the information as it comes out. On Thursday April 30, Little League International announced the cancellation of the Little League World Series and all related tournaments for both baseball and softball. Since then all regional tournaments have also been cancelled. While not surprising, it is the first time in the history of the program and is extremely unfortunate. Mount Seymour Little League has made the decision to formally cancel the 2020 Spring Season and start planning for a possible summer season. This was not an easy decision to make, but keeping our community’s best interests in mind and based on the health guidelines currently in place by the Provincial Health Authority and the District of North Vancouver, we believe this is the best way forward. Refunds All registration fees for the 2020 Spring Season will be fully refunded to our families. We will be waiving our $25 administration fee for refunds despite the costs already incurred to prepare for the season. It is the priority of our League to financially support our families during this time and we will aim to recoup funds from other sources over the next two to three years. If you are interested in donating any portion of your spring baseball registration fees to our League, please let us know by contacting treasurer@msll.ca by May 18. Donations are greatly appreciated and helpful to our continued mission to provide Little League opportunities to our community. Refunds will be returned to the original card or payment method starting May 19. You will see the credit within 7-10 business days. If you have any questions or require a refund receipt, please contact treasurer@msll.ca. Moving Forward The MSLL Board and Executive are looking at the viability of a Summer Season. This is a continuously changing situation and is dependent on the governing bodies (Provincial Health Authority, District of North Vancouver, Baseball BC, Little League Canada) to grant permission for baseball to return and under what protocols. MSLL is looking at all options to provide an opportunity for baseball to be played in our community for those families who are interested, under the assumption we will only provide a situation that is safe, fun, follows health guidelines, and gets our players back out on the field! Thank you for your patience as the Board and Executive balances the desire to get back to baseball with the plans for fiscal responsibility, community activity and long term success of our league. With very best regards, Jasmine Barry President Mount Seymour Little League |
